While in Karlstad, the city with the bestest water in Sweden, we went on a lovely little tour of one of the water towers. I must say, it was quite impressive, even just from the outside…
The first thing that I noticed when entering was the typical, Swedish fika, and this time completely free!
The downstairs of the tower was very interesting, with information about how the water is processed, what it is used for, and more very interesting facts. One of my favorites was what should and shouldn’t be flushed down the toilet. I was really surprised. Do you know what should and shouldn’t be flushed? Here is your answer…
Ok, so those of you who are rusty on your Swedish, the answer is only poop, pee and toilet paper should be flushed! Yep, NOTHING else. No condoms. No tampons. And for you Swedes, no snus! Are you as surprised as I was?
There was also a great section about Skellefteå‘s evil water bug. Yep, if you haven’t yet heard, we have been unable to drink any water from the tap for the last few months, and it is still going on! So famous, that they are talking about it in Karlstad.
It wasn’t just all talk either. They had some fun water games for kids. Such as making some water spin in bottles. Not really sure what the point was, but it was pretty neat!
And there was an area where people could color in fish and hang them on the way.
You bet I made one too. Do you see it? If not, here is a close up of my Swedish Freak fish!
And yes, I put my link! Hey, I’m a marketer at heart, so shoot me 🙂
That wasn’t all. There was also an amazing game with poop! Don’t believe me? I took a picture of that too!
After the fun and learning, it was time to head to the top of the tower. Inside the tower, where the stairs were, it was pretty cool…
It was a great work out. And there was a fabulous quiz on the way up. I have to say, this is the second time I came across a trivia quiz. And both times had questions for children (barn) and adults (vuxen). I tell people I get to use the children questions because I’ve only lived in Sweden for one year. So in Swedish time I’m a year old, and therefore a child!
And of course, in this little quiz they had to mention, again, Skellefteå‘s water problem. I think they were rubbing it in…
When we finally reached the top, it was all worth it. The view was breathtaking!
All in all it was a great tour, and a great end to visiting Karlstad!
