Låt den Rätte Komma In (2008)
Starring Lina Leandersson and Kare Hedebrant
Directed by Tomas Alfredson
Rated R
Taking place in the early 80s, a young boy who seems to not quite fit in with his schoolmates finds a friend and romance in his strange neighbor who only comes out in the evening and has terribly cold skin but does not seem to be bothered by the dark, cold Swedish nights. This film is a great vampire flick but it is not your typical vampire film. If you are expecting the typical Hollywood horror than this movie is not for you. It will leave a little bit of sadness in your heart and makes me wonder how many vampires walk the streets during those long Swedish winter nights. Based on a Swedish novel.
Not much more is need to be said about this film. Just watch it. It is good. If you are a horror movie junkie like me, it is a must see!
Interesting fact: While the movie is supposed to be based near Stockholm, it was actually filmed in Northern Sweden, in one of our neighboring towns. I’ll let you know if I run into any vampires this coming winter 😉
This one is definitely worth owning, so buy it now on Amazon.com or watch it on Amazon Demand (US residents only).
