Wow, summer went by so quickly. I guess it helped that half of the summer I wasn’t even in Sweden! Fall is already upon us folks here in Norrland (I know, I thought fall started in September!) Along with fall comes berry picking, trees turning all shades of summer, and school!

This week I will be trying my second attempt at studying Swedish for foreigners. I’m a bit pessimistic because a) I live in Norrland and b) I just don’t have time. The Swedish for foreigner class is 4 times a week, so I guess that you assume either you don’t have a job, or you have a job but no life. Unfortunately I have a job and a life, and I’m not sure I am interested in studying so much. Especially when half of the class wants to practice their English with me!

Either way, I’m going to celebrate the fact that I can study Swedish completely free and complain about it! 🙂 And I want to celebrate with you, my readers! While I know many of you are Swedish experts, I think there are a few of you out there who perhaps aren’t. So here is your chance to get a FREE copy of Swedish Essentials of Grammar.

This is my go to book for Swedish grammar. It has everything you need to know and is essential for any serious Swedish learner. I have one copy to give away, so how can you win? Simply do ANY of the following to earn an entry into the contest.
  1. Tweet “@SwedishFreak – Yes, I want to learn Swedish and win a copy of Swedish Essentials of Grammar! http://bit.ly/h75ysN”
  2. Comment on this blog post on why you should win
  3. Become a fan and share the SwedishFreak Fan Page on your Facebook wall and email me at missfoster (at) swedishfreak (dot) com with a screen shot so I know
  4. Link to SwedishFreak on your blog or website and email me the URL so I know

Feel free to do all 4 of the above if you really want the book. You will get 4 entries and increase your chances of winning! And if you get your friends to comment, tweet, and recommend on your behalf those will count as your entries (since maybe your friends aren’t interested in learning Swedish, but know how much you want to).

This contest is open world wide and starts from today until September 15th, 2011, so you have plenty of time to tweet, comment, and recommend!

  2. I’d love to win because I have a Swedish fiance’ and I am trying to self-teach myself to make it easier for me when I do move over to understand his friends and family even more (visited a couple times and most of them will go out of their way to speak English to me or to try, but I know it’s not always easy for them, and some aren’t so confident). I would hope to take classes whenever I do get over there, but I’d love to get a jump start on it. I always hear that grammar is the hard part to catch on to, and I had been browsing for a Swedish grammar book. 🙂

  5. I should win because I am learning Swedish here in Louisville, where there are very few Swedes to practice with. Grammar is the most difficult part to learn. I would love this book!

  6. Paige should certainly win this book, as it may mean I’ll get some temporary relief from the constant yammering of English -> Swedish translation software.

  7. Paige should win this book. Unlike some, she does not do shopping sprees, chocolate indulgences, liposuction, or botox. She does Sweden. It’s an obsession and possibly her true love, (next in line to her loving husband and adorable cat, lest I leave them out.) I say all this having traveled with her there this Summer. I watched as she spent almost a year saving, slaving, obsessing, and attempting to learn Swedish. I’ve never seen a happier girl than Paige when in Sweden. And yes, please save her husband from that horrible software 😉

  10. Oh dang I missed the giveaway… *sob* I know I am no longer in the running but I will still comment (just disregard me) I would have wanted to win because I am learning Swedish (painstakingly) on my own. There are no Swedish language courses where I am, I don’t have a Swede to talk to (we don’t even have a Swedish embassy here), I haven’t been to Sweden but have been a fan for more than 10 years (I keep saying it’s an unrequited love for the country), I probably unconsciously promote the country wherever I am because I always find something about Sweden to talk about, I love Swedish films and music, and I am also quite smitten with a Swede I’ve never met. I love this country so much, I wish one day to Fika and live there. Sigh. (Improbable, so I just live vicariously through people who blog about it.) Anyway.. lovely blog! Tack tack!
